Intensity of UV radiation : moderate The area of low pressure over the northeastern part of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression, and is located within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong. The tropical depression is expected to move northeastwards today and tomorrow, and will maintain a distance of about 500 kilometres or more from Hong Kong. It will move in the general direction of the vicinity of Taiwan. The tropical depression is expected to develop slightly, but the convections over its northern side will be relatively weak. Unless the tropical depression intensifies significantly or adopts a track closer to the Pearl River Estuary, the chance of issuing Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal is rather low. The Observatory will closely monitor the development of the tropical depression. Under the influence of its associated subsiding air, the weather is expected to be extremely hot over parts of the territory today and tomorrow. High temperatures will also trigger showers.
