A band of thundery showers to the north of Hong Kong is moving southward and may affect the territory in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert. Meanwhile, a strong southwest monsoon is affecting the coast of Guangdong. The Strong Monsoon Signal is now in force.
Besides, Severe Tropical Storm Gaemi will move across inland Fujian and weaken gradually, maintaining a distance of over 500 kilometres from Hong Kong. Unless Gaemi adopts a more westerly track, the chance of issuing tropical cyclone warning signal is relatively low. Strong winds are expected from the southwest.
