Mitag is expected to intensify gradually and edge closer to the coast of eastern Guangdong. The Observatory will issue the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow morning. The tropical depression over the western North Pacific to the east of the Philippines has intensified into a tropical storm and has been named Ragasa. According to the present forecast, Ragasa will intensify significantly and move towards the vicinity of Luzon Strait in the next few days, and it may reach super typhoon intensity. It will enter the northern part of the South China Sea early next week, and then edge closer to the coast of southern China. Under the influence of its extensive circulation, the weather will deteriorate significantly over the region midweek next week. Winds will strengthen again with heavy squally showers and thunderstorms. Seas will be very rough with swells.
