汶川地震十周年即將來臨，紀念災難是令人傷痛的事，但亦提醒我們災難影響深遠，必須做好防護工作。
在2018年4月9日至13日，香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心、曼徹斯特大學人道與衝突應對研究所應急醫療隊世衞合作中心及四川大學華西醫院合作，為醫院進行培訓，提升其應急醫療隊水平至世衞標準。
華西醫院應急醫療隊接受救援行動模擬訓練，在模擬災難場景中，建設可自給自足、提供數星期服務的臨時醫院設施，包括手術室、實驗室及復康設施等，處理住院及非住院病人，從而訓練醫護人員、醫療隊領袖及負責分配資源的成員應付重大事故、處理傷亡的能力。
自2016年開始，香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心與曼徹斯特大學人道與衝突應對研究所的應急醫療隊世衞合作中心，以及中華人民共和國國家衞生和計劃生育委員會衞生應急辦公室合作，發展內地應急醫療隊，令醫療隊有合格能力，進行內地及國際災難救援。

香港在每年夏天受颱風及暴雨恆常襲擊，增加了山泥傾瀉等天然災難的威脅，預防山泥傾瀉是應對這類自然災害的最佳方案。
香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心正與香港土木工程拓展署土力工程處及香港科技大學合作，測試智能泥石壩山泥傾瀉偵察系統。這個系統的感應器採用簡單節能設計，將會是首個能提供實時山泥傾瀉監察、同時為下游地區作預警的精確系統。
為了解智能泥石壩山泥傾瀉偵察系統將來的研究發展，香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心在2017年9月29日，參觀設於香港嘉道理中心的山泥傾瀉水槽研究設施，了解山泥傾瀉及泥石壩的互動關係。

香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心現正就「一站式災難防護資訊社區入口網站系統」發展計劃招標，預計計劃在2018年6月至2019年5日進行。
香港賽馬會災難防護應變教研中心相信，邀請市民及社區參與災難的管理、防護、應變及復原工作，是達至全民應變的最關鍵要素之一；然而，多項研究結果揭示社區對災難資訊有急切需求，現時相關資訊散亂，公眾未了解從何獲得資訊

The 4thcohort is now open for registration and study on a first-come-first-served basis. Upon registration, students are allowed to study the course until 30 October 2022 at their own pace. A certificate of completion will be issued for participants who have successfully completed the course.
