At noon at the Hong Kong Observatory : Air temperature : 29 degrees Celsius Relative Humidity : 87 per cent During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park : 2 Intensity of UV radiation : low The area of low pressure over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea is intensifying gradually. It is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone later today. According to the present forecast, the tropical cyclone will enter within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong tomorrow, and having a higher chance to move towards the vicinity of Hainan Island and western Guangdong afterwards. However, its movement and intensity are still quite uncertain. Depending on its movement, the Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal, No. 1 tomorrow (20 July) afternoon to tomorrow night. Under its influence, there will be squally showers and it will be windy offshore and on high ground in the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary on Sunday and Monday.
