Under the influence of a trough of low pressure and upper-air disturbances, there will be a few showers over the territory today (14 May), and showers will increase gradually with squally thunderstorms later. Showers will be heavy in some areas later today to tomorrow (15 May). The trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the northern part of the South China Sea during the weekend. Meanwhile, a fresh to strong easterly airstream will affect eastern Guangdong. Locally, there will still be showers and it will be windy. Members of the public should be aware of the change in weather. Those engaging in outdoor activities should pay attention to the weather tips and the warning messages issued by the Observatory.
