the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park : 1
Intensity of UV radiation : low The broad area of low pressure over the central part of the South China Sea is consolidating at a distance of around 800 kilometres from Hong Kong. According to the present forecast, the area of low pressure will gradually develop into a tropical depression today afternoon to tomorrow morning (11 June). The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 tomorrow morning the earliest.
The tropical cyclone is expected to move in the general direction of Hainan Island and the vicinity of the coast of western Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of this week. Depending on its distance from Hong Kong and its rate of development, the Observatory will assess the need of issuing a higher Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal on Thursday (12 June). With the tropical cyclone edging closer, the weather will be windy with occasional squally showers in the latter part of this week, and there will be swells.
