The Immigration Department has been voted the winner of the 2025 Skytrax Award for Best Airport Immigration Service in the World Passenger Survey commissioned by Skytrax, an international specialist research agent of the air transport industry. This is the fifth time for the department to receive the award after winning it in 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. On April 9, Director of Immigration Benson Kwok attended the prize presentation ceremony held in Madrid, Spain. Mr Kwok stated that the department was honoured to receive the prestigious Skytrax Award for Best Airport Immigration Service for the fifth time, which affirms its commitment to delivering the highest quality of immigration clearance services. The department expressed gratitude to Skytrax and international travellers for their recognition, as well as to its frontline staff for their professionalism and dedication. Mr Kwok added that the department will continue striving for excellence by leveraging innovative technologies to introduce more facilitation measures and deliver the best immigration services to passengers, with a view to reinforcing Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub while actively supporting the city's overall development. Also during his visit in Spain, he paid a courtesy call to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Spain and met Chargé d'Affaires ad interim and Minister of the Embassy Qu Xun. Additionally, Mr Kwok visited the Spanish Ministry of the Interior where he held discussions with the Director-General of International Relations Elena Garzón Otamendi. Moreover, he took the time to introduce Hong Kong's talent admission schemes, visa services and immigration facilitation measures while meeting representatives of several local media outlets.
香港特區政府派遣前赴緬甸地震災區協助搜救工作的救援隊伍完成任務後，昨晚返抵香港。行政長官李家超於香港國際機場迎接特區救援隊返港，並向救援隊致敬。 李家超致辭時表示，這次救援行動充滿挑戰，除了面對餘震風險，救援隊也要克服災區交通中斷、通訊受阻、基礎設施嚴重損毀等情況，加上當地天氣非常炎熱，災區粉塵滿地、蚊患嚴重，大大增加救援困難。 他說，特區救援隊要在惡劣環境下爭分奪秒搜救，隊員憑藉專業的訓練、堅定的意志和無畏的勇氣，克服重重難關，充分展現無懼挑戰、救急扶危的專業精神。這次任務圓滿完成，充分展現各單位的專業能力和團隊精神。 李家超感謝中央政府對特區救援隊的信任和支持，指這次再與國家救援隊深度合作，攜手實踐國際人道主義精神，演繹國家在應對天災危機的大國擔當；各救援隊隊員的無私付出，世界有目共睹。 特區救援隊上月29日出發，前往緬甸地震重災區之一曼德勒進行搜救。特區救援隊連日來與中國救援隊進行聯合搜索，成功救出一名生還者；特區救援隊也挖掘出兩具遇難者遺體。 中國救援隊和特區救援隊在曼德勒完成任務後，一同於昨日下午抵達北京。政務司司長陳國基、保安局局長鄧炳強和消防處處長楊恩健前赴北京首都國際機場迎接隊員，並與特區救援隊一同於昨晚由北京飛抵香港。 特區救援隊共51人，成員包括消防、救護與工程組人員，以及保安局、入境事務處和醫院管理局人員。
The search and rescue team deployed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to the quake-stricken areas of Myanmar to assist in the search and rescue work, returned to Hong Kong last night after completing its mission. Chief Executive John Lee welcomed the team at Hong Kong International Airport. In his speech, Mr Lee said that the search and rescue team members overcame numerous difficulties and raced against time through their professional training, determined will and immense courage, fully demonstrating professionalism in fearlessly braving challenges and caring for those in distress. Upon completion of the operation in Mantalay, Myanmar, the China and the Hong Kong SAR search and rescue teams arrived in Beijing yesterday afternoon. Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung and Director of Fire Services Andy Yeung welcomed the teams at Beijing Capital International Airport then flew to Hong Kong together with the Hong Kong SAR search and rescue team last night. The Hong Kong SAR search and rescue team departed for Myanmar on March 29 to conduct search and rescue work in Mantalay - one of the worst-hit areas. The team conducted joint operations with the China search and rescue teams for days and successfully rescued one survivor. In addition, the Hong Kong SAR team found two bodies under the debris. The 51-strong Hong Kong SAR search and rescue team comprised firemen, ambulancemen and fire services workshops personnel, as well as officers from the Security Bureau, the Immigration Department and the Hospital Authority.
