Tropical Cyclone Man-yi has entered within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong. The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. today (18 November). According to the present forecast, Man-yi is expected to weaken gradually. However, with Man-yi edging closer to the coast of Guangdong, and under the combined effect with the northeast monsoon, it will be windy over the region on Tuesday (19 November). Whether a higher Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal will be issued on Monday night to early Tuesday will depend on the distance between Man-yi and the Pearl River Estuary, its change in intensity and the change in local wind conditions.
Besides, there will be a spring tide in the next couple of days. The sea level will be particularly high during the high tide overnight. Together with the combined effect of the northeast monsoon and Man-yi, the sea level will generally be about a further 0.3 metres above the spring tide at night on Monday and Tuesday. Minor flooding may occur in individual low-lying coastal areas. Members of the public please take appropriate precautions.
There will be occasional rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will fall further with a minimum temperature of 18 degrees or below. The air temperatures at other places were:
