With the support of Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute, the Emergency Medicine Unit of The University of Hong Kong developed a course on "Ultrasound-assisted Clinical Skills for Disasters". This course was geared towards the goal of updating participants with the latest ultrasound knowledge in a field setting, and a repertoire of skills regarding the contemporary practice of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) on trauma casualties in disaster management.   The first cohort of students of the “Ultrasound-assisted Clinical Skills for Disasters”course graduated on 24 July 2016. This cohort included 22 medical students and 10 practicing emergency physicians.  
The Fundamental Disaster Response Course (FDRC) 2016 , organised by the Disaster Medicine Subcommittee of the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute, was completed with 18 participants from the period of March - July 2016. The course consisted of five full day sessions (eight hours per session, 40 hours in total). Participants included emergency medicine physicians and nurses, and ambulance officers from the Hong Kong Fire Service Department.
First of its kind in Hong Kong, the Annual Conference on Disaster Preparedness and Response 2015: “From Community to Emergency Room” took place in Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building from 30 October to 1 November 2015.
