Cross-strait Alliance on Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) joined the “Cross-strait Alliance on Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development” which consisted of HKJCDPRI, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Sichuan University and five other universities from the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan.

The alliance aims at promoting knowledge sharing and joint academic courses in the areas of disaster mitigation and sustainable development in the Greater China. At the kick-off event, HKJCDPRI spoke on the bottom-up approaches in building disaster resilience in Hong Kong. HKJCDPRI’s Project Manager on Community Programme, Ms Angel Ng, also delivered a talk on “Building a Resilient and Safe City” in the scientific session jointly organised by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Beijing Normal University.
