National Emergency Medical Team Training held in Dali, Yunnan

Following the annual National Emergency Medical Team (EMT) training 2016 held in Fuzhou of China, the annual EMT training 2017 was held in Dali of Yunnan Province of China on 12-13 September 2017. Same as the training in 2016, the 2017 training was organised for all 37 Chinese national EMTs managed under the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), while targeting at management level leaders of EMT development this year.

 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Insitute (HKJCDPRI) and the University of Manchester (UoM) has designed a 2-day programme rundown for the NHFPC, trainers and representatives from HKJCDPRI and the UoM were also sent to support the training. The HKJCDPRI delegation consisted of two HKJCDPRI staff, Prof Tony Redmond from our partner Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute from Manchester and UK-Med, an Emergency Medicine doctor from Hospital Authority, and two firefighters from the Hong Kong Fire Services Department Urban Search and Rescue team.

 

The training was successfully held with 91 participants, all in leadership roles of the Chinese national EMTs. The speakers spoke about their experiences in team management, using various examples of national and international deployment.
