A FREE and new HKU Public Health Course in Emergency Medicine for Disaster and Humanitarian Crises Responders (22 Jul – 10 Aug 2017) is now open for application!

A FREE and new Public Health Course, CMED6231 Emergency Medicine for Disaster and Humanitarian Crises Responders’ (22 Jul – 10 Aug 2017), which organised by Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPR) is now open for application.


This course is designed for health care professionals and volunteer workers who are interested in disaster medicine and humanitarian work. It attempts to merge emergency medicine and public health in the context of disaster, with an emphasis on knowledge exchange between different practitioners, hands-on training on life- and mind-saving skills, experience sharing, and reflection on the ethical and legal issues related to humanitarian work.


To be eligible for admission, a candidate shall:

  1. comply with the University General Regulations;
  2. comply with the University Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula;
  3. hold a Bachelor’s degree with honours or the degrees of MBBS of this University, or another qualification of equivalent standard from this University or from another University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose;
  4. satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to higher degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b); and
  5. satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.
